England star Danny Cipriani has played down rumours that he is about to pull out of his Super 15 contract.
Cipriani has contacted Rebels head coach Rod Macqueen and said that he has no plans to try and get out of the contract.
The Daily Mail Online reported on the weekend that Cipriani was so distraught following the break-up of his long-time relationship with actress Kelly Brook that he wanted to stop playing rugby and had set up trials with Fulham and West Ham football clubs.
However the former England number 10 told Macqueen that the article was "rubbish" and advised the 1999 World Cup-winning coach to pay no attention to it.
"They couldn't be further from the truth," Cipriani texted.
Cipriani is currently training with NFL players in Los Angeles in a bid to improve his footwork before joining up with the Rebels in Melbourne in August.
According to a close family source, Cipriani, who had football trials with Queens Park Rangers and Reading as a teenager, has been approached by Fulham with the view to a trial on July 7.
Macqueen told the Australian that as far as the club was concerned the 22-year-old five-eighth or fullback remains a definite starter.
"Danny's a little broken-hearted after breaking up with his girlfriend but, as far as I know, he's not trying to get out of his contract," he said.
"A few of us have spoken to him and the situation with the contract is cool."
