Bakkies Botha has been slapped with a four week ban for recklessly and dangerously entering a ruck without binding when he made contact and injured Gio Aplon of the Stormers.

Citing Commissioner Freek Burger cited Botha under Law 10.4 (h) for dangerously and recklessly entering a ruck without using his arms or grasping a player.

His hearing was held on Monday but the decision was deferred until Tuesday when he was slapped with the ban.

Botha was given a two week ban last year in the second British and Irish Lions Test for the same offence.

The Ban rules Botha out of the Bulls Super14 Semi-final and potential final as well as the Springboks match against Wales although he might not have been selected for that match anyway.

He will also miss the Springboks Test against France on June 12.
