The Brumbies will walk the Super 14 finals tightrope after falling to the Waratahs 19-12 at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.
With three matches remaining, the Brumbies must win each of them with bonus points to qualify for the play-offs.
While claiming a lone bonus point for tonight’s efforts, the Brumbies’ scoring was left to the boot of flyhalf Matt Giteau who kicked four penalty goals with his side unable to breach the Waratahs’ defence for a five-pointer.
Brumbies Head Coach Andy Friend said he was pleased with his side’s commitment despite the final result.
"I thought we showed a real intent to want to play and we were all really proud of their efforts," he said.
"We let ourselves down last week by not producing that performance."he added.
"With the competitiveness of this competition, if you slacken off for a week or don’t produce your best for a week that can come back and bite you.
"Tonight the guys were tremendous and we’ll take on the last three games with the same spirit and you never know what can happen." said Friend.
