Cardiff Blues Centre, Tom Shanklin has been ruled out for the rest of the season after taking a blow to his knee during the win over Ulster last Friday.

The injury is not to the knee which kept him out after the 2005 Lions tour and it is not thought that the injury is serious and not a re-accruing injury.

However, Shanklin will be out of action for up to 6 to 8 weeks which means he will out for the rest of the season. As a precaution the knee will be cleaned out.

Meanwhile Gareth Cooper will be seeing a specialist this week to be what needs to be done to treat a persistent groin injury while Sam Norton Knight has an injury to a disc in his back.

Cardiff Blues were also not able to select the following players for this weekend's action due to injury:

Bradley Davies - (head injury)
Robin Sowden Taylor - (Achilles)
Gary Powell - (Ruptured Achilles)
Sam Hobbs - (head injury)
