Bristol sign promising Gloucester back

Bristol Rugby Head Coach Paul Hull today revealed his first signing from outside the current squad for the 2009-10 season with the capture of highly rated centre Jack Adams from Gloucester.

A former member of the Gloucester Academy and a product of St Peter's School, Jack made his first team debut against Sale Sharks at Kingsholm in September 2005 aged only 18.

He then enjoyed a good start to the 2006/07 season making nine Guinness Premiership appearances scoring three tries as well as making his debut for the England Sevens team in Hong Kong.

He has since divided his playing time between Gloucester and Moseley, gone on to represent England at Sevens on several other occasions as well as captaining Gloucester in the Middlesex Sevens in August 2008.

A strong and direct runner, he will add some class to the Bristol midfield next season according to Hull:

"Jack seems to have been around the Guinness Premiership for a while but he's still only 22. He's just the sort of player we're looking for here at Bristol, young and talented and with a strong West Country connection."

"He's a strong, direct runner with experience of domestic and European rugby and will be a great asset to our squad."

For Adams himself, the move is all about the opportunity to play regular rugby:

"I've had a fantastic few years at Gloucester and will obviously be sorry to leave but, with the quality of centres at Kingsholm, it's been difficult to get a run in the side."

"Bristol are another great club and I'm really excited to be joining them. Paul Hull has gone into detail about what he wants the club to achieve and I hope I can play a big part in that."

"I'm at the stage in my career when I need to be playing regular first team rugby and I think Bristol is the best place to achieve that. I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
